Basic Thumb Rules to Store Baseball Cards

Some people use good quality plastic bins to store the baseball cards. Indeed storing in plastic bin is a good idea since you can be sure that they are waterproof protected. But you have to be selective while purchasing one of those plastic containers, box or bins. Avoid purchasing a round cornered, instead go for perfectly square cornered plastic bins.  The advantage of storing in plastic case doesn't end here. There are different types of plastic cases with multiple sections enabling segregation of the cards set wise, same team or same player. Buy only those plastic boxes which are specifically meant for storing trading cards. If still the box has empty spaces, use form fillers to mend the extra gaps.

Another good method to store is to use plastic sleeves for individual cards. It is probably the most inexpensive and safest method. It will not only protect from wear and tear but also will safeguard the cards from sticking to each other. If you want to safeguard more, get an individual top loading plastic pouch. Always ensure to go for the best quality plastics as low quality plastics are prone to adhesion. Using a top-loader offers a great way to showcase your cards.

Humidity, oil, dirt and water are the worst enemies of baseball cards. Now that you know the tools to store, start thinking of placing or keeping the cards in safe place. Here I am not talking about keeping inside cupboard or safe, but keeping at right place away from possible wear and tear zones. Keeping in cool and dry place will prevent causing damage. Keep the card holder, cases or the boxes as high as possible or running a dehumidifier in the room where it is being stored is also a sound idea.

The discounted and cheaper card holders may be tempting, but it will be unfavorable if that damage or discolors the cards. Enjoy collecting but also make sure to purchase high quality storage tools.
